Beef

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is not the same meaning as the beef you eat.

 

= to have a grudge, a complaint, or start a fight against someone or something

used as noun:

Ex: I have a “beef” with the American public school system because kids aren’t learning the basics.

Ex: John has a “beef” with another student.  They are constantly arguing with each other.

used as verb:

Ex: They are always “beefing” over their neighbor’s dogs.

Ex: I don’t care if you don’t like your classmate, there is no “beefing” in the classroom.

Who says it?:      Young to Middle age people

Squash the Beef

= end/ resolve a dispute by apologizing or other methods

Ex: You need to “squash the beef” between you and your father if you want to make progress.

Ex: I’m tired of fighting with you.  Let’s “squash our beef.”

Who says it?:    Young to Middle Age
