Listen & Learn: Blur

 bestofblur1

Blur is an English alternative rock band.

They began in London, England in 1989.

They were a part of the 90’s Brit-Pop music movement.

Blur’s rival was another famous English band called Oasis.

Both bands would talk bad about the other band in music magazines.

Blur became very famous in England.

However, until 1997 they had only little success in America.

That year they released their 4th album “Blur.”

That album had a famous single called “Song 2.”

In the next album “13” they experimented with electronic music.

In 1998, singer Damon Albarn started a side band called the Gorillaz.

In 2003, Blur released their final album “Think Tank”

After a long tour they decided to break up.

Now the Gorillaz have become a very well known band.

In 2009, Blur reunited and performed several concert tours.

I always thought Blur was cooler than Oasis.

By the way, my favorite Blur songs are “Coffee and TV” and “Out of Time.”

“Coffee and T.V.”

Do you feel like a chain store?

Practically floored

One of many zeros

Kicked around bored

Your ears are full but you’re empty

Holding out your heart

To people who never really

Care how you are

So give me Coffee and TV

easily

I’ve seen so much

I’m going blind

And I’m brain dead virtually

Sociability

It’s hard enough for me

Take me away from this big bad world

And agree to marry me

So we can start all over again

Do you go to the country

It isn’t very far

There’s people there who will hurt you

‘Cause of who you are

Your ears are full of the language

There’s wisdom there you’re sure

‘Til the words start slurring

And you can’t find the door

So give me Coffee and TV

easily

I’ve seen so much

I’m going blind

And I’m braindead virtually

Sociability

It’s hard enough for me

Take me away from this big bad world

And agree to marry me

So we can start all over again

So give me Coffee and TV

easily

I’ve seen so much

I’m going blind

And I’m brain dead virtually

Sociability

It’s hard enough for me

Take me away from this big bad world

And agree to marry me

So we can start all over again

Oh…we could start over again

Oh…we could start over again

Oh…we could start over again

Oh…we could start over again

“Song 2”

 WOOHOO!

WOOHOO!

WOOHOO!

WOOHOO!

I got my head checked

By a jumbo jet

It wasn’t easy

But nothing is,

No

WOOHOO!

When I feel heavy metal WOOHOO!

And I’m pins and I’m needles WOOHOO!

Well I lie and I’m easy

All of the time but I’m never sure why I need you

Pleased to meet you!

I got my head done

When I was young

It’s not my problem

It’s not my problem

WOOHOO!

When I feel heavy metal WOOHOO!

And I’m pins and I’m needles WOOHOO!

Well I lie and I’m easy

All of the time but I’m never sure why I need you

Pleased to meet you!

Yeah, yeah

Yeah, yeah

Yeah, yeah

Oh, yeah

“Out of Time”

Where’s the love song to set us free

Too many people down, everything turning the wrong way
round

And I don’t know what love will be

But if we stop dreaming now, lord knows we’ll never clear the
clouds

And you’ve been so busy lately

That you haven’t found the time

To open up your mind

And watch the world spinning gently out of time

Feel the sunshine on your face

It’s in a computer now

Gone to the future, way out in space

And you’ve been so busy lately

That you haven’t found the time

To open up your mind

And watch the world spinning gently out of time

And you’ve been so busy lately

That you haven’t found the time

To open up your mind

And watch the world spinning gently out of time

Tell me I’m not dreaming

But are we out of time

(we’re) out of time (x4)

“Tender”

Tender is the night

Lying by your side

Tender is the touch

Of someone that you love too much

Tender is the day

The demons go away

Lord I need to find

Someone who can heal my mind

Come on, Come on, Come on

Get through it

Come on, Come on, Come on

Love’s the greatest thing

Come on, Come on, Come on

Get through it

Come on, Come on, Come on

Love’s the greatest thing

That we have

I’m waiting for that feeling

Waiting for that feeling

Waiting for that feeling to come

Oh my baby

Oh my baby

Oh why

Oh my

Tender is the ghost

The ghost I love the most

Hiding from the sun

Waiting for the night to come

Tender is my heart

I’m screwing up my life

Lord I need to find

Someone who can heal my mind

Come on, Come on, Come on

Get through it

Come on, Come on, Come on

Love’s the greatest thing

Come on, Come on, Come on

Get through it

Come on, Come on, Come on

Love’s the greatest thing

That we have

I’m waiting for that feeling

Waiting for that feeling

Waiting for that feeling to come

Oh my baby

Oh my baby

Oh why

Oh my

Come on, Come on, Come on

Get through it

Come on, Come on, Come on

Love’s the greatest thing

Come on, Come on, Come on

Get through it

Come on, Come on, Come on

Love’s the greatest thing

That we have

I’m waiting for that feeling

Waiting for that feeling

Waiting for that feeling to come

Oh my baby

Oh my baby

Oh why

Oh my

“No Distance Left To Run”

It’s over

You don’t need to tell me

I hope you’re with someone who makes you

feel safe in your sleep

and tonight

I won’t kill myself, trying to stay in your life

I got no distance left to run

When you see me

Please turn your back and walk away

I don’t want to see you

‘Cause I know the dreams that you keep

That’s where we meet

When your coming down, think of me here

I got no distance left to run

It’s over, I knew it would end this way

I hope you’re with someone who makes you feel

That this life is a life

One who settles down, stays around

Spends more time with you

I got no distance left to run

I’m coming home

It’s over

Come on home

No more
