Time Out

 

= a time for rest from one’s usual work

 

*For children, a “time out” is considered punishment where the child has to remain silent in a single spot.

*For sports, a “time out” stops the clock.

 

“Time out” can be used as a hand signal:

Ex:  The team called a “time out,” to get some rest and talk about the next play.

Ex:  After misbehaving during class, the boy had to sit in “time out” while the other children played outside.
