Keep an Eye On Something/Someone

= to watch, to pay attention to

Ex: Please “keep an eye on” your little brother while we are gone.  I don’t want him to get hurt, or get into trouble.

Ex:  When you play baseball, the coach always says to “keep an eye on” the ball.

Keep an Eye Out For Something/ Someone

= to look for, wait to see

 

Ex: “Keep an eye out” for the mail because I’m expecting a letter.

 

Ex: “Keep an eye out” for my shirt.  I lost it and can’t remember where I put it.
